Create a Web2.0 web application providing centralized access to a vast set of bioinformatics resources. The unifying interface metaphor should be similar to the one adopted by iGoogle and netvibes. A new gadget engine could be developed or new gadgets to existing frameworks could be implemented. The main topic of this tool would be application integration, promoting the capacity of integrating several distinct applications in a single environment.

Web-based Desktops are gaining popular as the technologies they use are evolving. Current RIA technologies can transform the Internet as a development platform very similar to the Desktop. BioDesktop could use the eyeOS web desktop framework to create a biology-related web desktop instance. This application could contain interfaces to several other applications and offer, in a single web page, several tools to aid biologists (calendar, e-mail, notes, excel sheets…)
